Earthquake Early Warning Mobile App (E)
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee has launched the country’s first earthquake early warning mobile app. This application named Uttarakhand Bhookamp Alert will raise alarm about earthquakes of magnitude greater than 5. The Uttarakhand region is prone to earthquakes as it is among the most seismically active parts of India. IIT Roorkee was working on the project sponsored by the Uttarakhand State Disaster management authority and under this project sensors have been installed in the higher areas of Kumaon and Garhwal region.
