North East Science Communicators Conference

Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organisation of the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, has been doing remarkable work in the direction of science communication and its popularisation for the past several decades. In order to expand its work, Vigyan Prasar has taken the "Scope for All" initiative, under which scientific knowledge is being spread using various Indian languages, including local languages across the country. Going ahead, Vigyan Prasar intends to expand the SCoPE Programme in North-Eastern states through science communication, popularisation and outreach programmes in their local languages and dialects. As part of this expansion, Vigyan Prasar, in collaboration with Gauhati University, is organising a two-day North-East Science Communicators Conference at Gauhati University, Guwahati. Science communicators, teachers, writers, journalists, experts and scientists from different parts of North-Eastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, are participating in this meeting to discuss the future possibilities and strategies of SCoPE. We hope this conference will create more opportunities and promises to connect and focus S&T-enabled programmes in North-Eastern States of India.
