Listening to Music at Bedtime Can be Disruptive to Sleep (E)
According to a study, listening to music at bedtime can be disruptive to sleep. The study has been conducted by Michael Scullin, a professor of psychology and neuroscience, at Baylor University in the US. The study investigated the relationship between music listening and sleep, focusing on a rarely-explored mechanism - involuntary musical imagery, or “earworms,” when a song or tune replays over and over in a person’s mind. For the experiment, Scullin’s research team attempted to induce earworms to determine how it affected the sleep quality of 50 people.
